They are very, very sleepy.

this website sucks dog balls

@Crawdad: Language, young man...

But yeah, the moderators and their current workload seem disproportionate at the moment. I still see submissions being removed when they violate the rules, but everything seems... 'slower'. It seems as if the priority cases come first and there is a backlog building up. My guess would be that the hefty influx of artists migrating from sites which were 'actually' as sucky as Crawdad described 'might' have played a part in said workload.

Not all the aspects of the site seem to be affected, though.

sorry but it still sucks a lot

Agreed. Also: No need for you to apologize. The situation is what it is...

Being almost entirely reliant on donations and (optional) subscriptions, NG currently operates at a loss. It's not as if they could just hire an extra moderator or two.

@Crawdad The other websites need to stop being worse so that people will migrate back to them from Newgrounds, and Tom Fulp can go back to just moderating, like, 3 people total by himself. Like when YouTube used to actually be good.

@Yatsufusa Does my subscription really not matter that much? Maybe the NG team could learn a thing or two from the Blender Foundation. Or at least try to better profit from competitor's misfortunes the same way Godot is now making more money than ever from jilted former Unity game devs.

As I understand the situation, it's not so much about 'your' subscription, jthrash (Thank you for your contribution to keeping the servers running, by the way...), it's more about the low number of subscribers in general.

As for 'how much' difference an individual user's subscription money makes depends on the service used and the payment method. I cannot give examples for every single case, but I happen to know that a $ 2 PayPal transaction leaves the recipient with around $ 1, due to the way their service makes its money. A yearly subscription leaves NG considerably more money, since it's just a single transaction.

If 'you' have any specific ideas how to better profit from the current influx of artists in an ethical way: TomFulp is actually a pretty approachable guy - and remarkably kind for somebody who had to deal with so many difficult people for so long. I'm sure he'd welcome a PM with suggestions. At the very least he will be happy seeing how much you care. :)
